MacDougal Capital is led by Brian Velasquez Reid. A New Yorker since 1997 and a Greenwich Village resident since 2004, he brings a unique perspective that bridges industries and cultures. In the mid-2000s, Brian became one of the first Filipino Americans to be a founding partner at a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund. He also served as a portfolio manager on Merrill Lynch’s credit proprietary trading desk—the largest in the world—and conducted research at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, the premier high-yield firm of its time. Brian began his career at Citigroup, where he earned the highest ranking in his analyst class. With deep expertise in financial markets and valuation, he has invested, traded, and researched across the capital structure, including leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, convertible bonds, equities, options, SPACs, and warrants. Today, he applies his extensive Wall Street experience as CFO of Dear Flor, a company on a mission to share Filipino culture with the world—one flavor at a time.
